The B. C. Secondary School Girls Basketball Association executive has met via conference call to follow up the Annual General Meeting held Saturday, March 2, at the Langley Events Centre. During this conference call held Sunday, March 10, it was confirmed the tier numbers for the 2019-2020 girls basketball season will stay as previously determined and advertised. These tier numbers, which include the number of grade 11-12 girls in the school using the B. C. School Sports posted school numbers, for next season are as follows:
4A = 263+
3A = 163 – 262
2A = 79 – 162
1A = 7 – 78 – NOTE: seven is the minimum number of student athletes needed to field a girls basketball team determined by BCSS
If your team wishes to play outside their specified tier based upon these numbers, the team coach must email the BCSSGBA Commissioner Jen Farano (firstname.lastname@example.org) to indicate the tier they want to move higher to compete in during the 2019-2020 season of play. The deadline to submit this written notification to play outside their tier of play is FRIDAY, APRIL 19.
If a team decides it wants to play outside its specified tier of competition, they must move for a minimum of TWO YEARS. Also, a team cannot move up to a higher tier of play unless there is already at least one team already competing at that tier level in their zone.
If you have any questions or if you require any additional information, please contact either BCSSGBA Commissioner Jen Farano (email@example.com) or President Brett Westcott (firstname.lastname@example.org) at your earliest convenience. Please make sure to respond to this email message and do not miss the deadline if you want to change tiers.
Yours in Basketball,
